What Is the Current Situation in Langtang?
Langtang requires a little more explanation.
The recent floods caused considerable damage in parts of Rasuwa, including sections of the normal road access toward Syabrubesi. Roads, bridges and settlements in sections of this corridor were affected.
However, this does not mean that the entire Langtang trekking region has disappeared from Nepal's trekking map.
The upper Langtang Valley and trekking areas around Kyanjin Gompa were not the same areas directly affected by the main flood damage. The principal challenge has been access through the traditional Syabrubesi corridor.
Alternative trekking approaches are available.
One alternative approach connects:
Kathmandu → Sundarijal → Chisapani → Thadepati → Ghopte → Gosaikunda → Thulo Syabru → Pairo → Lama Hotel → Langtang Valley → Kyanjin Gompa
This approach enters the region from the Helambu and Gosaikunda side and avoids the standard road access through the damaged section around Syabrubesi. Alternative approaches for the Langtang and Gosaikunda areas have also been reported following the flood.
Travelers should therefore understand the difference between a damaged normal access route and the closure of an entire trekking destination.
They are not the same thing.
For some departures, the itinerary may simply need additional trekking days, a different starting point or a revised transportation arrangement.

Are Kathmandu-Pokhara and Kathmandu-Chitwan Tours Operating?
Yes, these destinations continue to be included in Nepal itineraries.
There has been flood damage to sections of Nepal's highway network, including part of the important Prithvi Highway corridor.
The Government of Nepal and road authorities are working to restore normal traffic as quickly as possible.
At Krishnabhir, where a section of the Prithvi Highway collapsed toward the Trishuli River, authorities have started constructing a new bypass alignment above the damaged section. Officials have indicated that the new track is being developed on an accelerated basis, with work expected to restore the connection in roughly 5–18 days from the start of the project.
In the meantime, alternative road connections are being used.
Travelers can also choose domestic flights between Kathmandu and Pokhara when appropriate.
For our guests, this means that damage to a particular section of highway does not automatically mean that Pokhara, Chitwan or other destinations have become inaccessible.
